"My Life Insurance Policy with AMEX-Riversource"
I have had a term life insurance policy with American Express-Riversource Life Insurance for over 10 years. This policy is for $40,000. and I purchased it so that any outstanding debts or end of life services would be covered after my demise. I chose this particular company because I was working with a financial advisor through American Express Financial Advisors at the time and he recommended it. I have only dealt with my advisor (not the main office) on this account so I don't really have any qualms with his service. That said, I never receive anything directly from the insurer and I generally think their customer service is lacking. The rates routinely go up on this account which is probably normal for a term policy. They may be notifying me by e-mail of these rate changes but all I ever get is a generic e-mail saying some document is available on one of my IRA/life insurance accounts and I rarely look at these. It would be better if they sent a specific e-mail that said RATE INCREASE in the subject. I don't know if I would be inclined to recommend this company as my relationship with them is so abstract and they just seem to take $40. out of my checking account every month and I never hear from them.
