Review:
"The feeling was not mutual"
The Mutual of Omaha life insurance we purchased a year and a half ago unfortunately has caused an extreme amount of grief in the wake of what was already a sad and tragic loss of a family member. We assumed the coverage was there after we completed an application and were approved. Unfortunately my spouse passed away due to complications arising out of his weight and congestive heart failure. We disclosed the nature of my spouse's hypertension and weight in the questionnaires provided by Mutual of Omaha during the application process. We received word that we were approved and felt safe and secure. What we didn't know is that Mutual of Omaha reserves the right to request your medical records if a person passes away within the first two years of owning the policy. We had no qualms with them viewing our medical records however why wait until someone died to look over information that should have been viewed in the initial process. I received no benefit as beneficiary to this life insurance policy, only a refund of my premiums. This seems like a scam that lets consumers believe they have coverage when in fact agents who process applications do not do the work required to successfully underwrite a policy. Had Mutual of Omaha actually reviewed my spouse's medical records and application and come to the determination we were not qualified for the policy, we would have been able to seek out life insurance from another source rather than be subject to this nightmare.
