"Dont bet your life on Gerber"
I would like to review my old Life Insurance company for my son. I would like to say old because after 18 years of having them for my son, they failed big time. I bought the life insurance when my son was born and at the time, I thought, it was a great idea. It was the one you see on the TV all the time. The Gerber insurance which has been around forever. I saw an ad in my mail and decided on getting it to cover my newborn son. Over the years I have had very little contact with the company. This is mainly because they have never given me reason to. I would just send in the payments and I thought all was good in the world. As my son got older, around 15, he started having heart issues. At the end of the year after the surgery to fix it, my premiums went up by around 10 bucks. This raised the 6 bucks a month to around 16. This is only for 15,000 dollar coverage so that's a bit steep. I kept the coverage thou, it was a good thing to have. When my son reached 18 and wanted to carry on the insurance on his own, they denied him and would not give us the cash value of the policy like it advertised. They tried to tell us that because we didn't report my sons heart issue, they found out on their own. I guess there is some insurance clearinghouse the all the companies report to. So not only did he get no insurance, he got no cash value out of it. I would have been screwed if he did die, they would have stiffed me on it. I would still make sure my son was taken care of, but man. I thought Life Insurance was for the worst. I didn't know they could pick and choose who they like to pay out to. Screw them, never get this coverage.

"Why I Chose Gerber for my Son"
When my son was born, I decided that he needed life insurance right away. He spent a week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and was released to go home on his 1 week birthday with no long-term effects of his breathing difficulties at birth. My husband and I checked into Gerber's child life insurance right away and were pleased with what we found: you can choose the amount of coverage and the coverage is transferable upon my son's 23rd birthday. So- if he were to develop, God forbid, some sort of chronic disease, Gerber must continue to provide life insurance and allow him to transfer his policy into a regular adult policy- they cannot deny him because he got the insurance as a child. Choosing Gerber put my mind at ease!

"Very good service"
I really like Gerber insurance for my children. Customer service were always on hand to answer any questions you might have and information was always mailed quilky. The plans they offer are so convenient, and they have many ways to pay for plan. You are also able to get a loan with Gerber.

"Life"
We have had no problems what so ever with Gerber! We always get our statements in the mail and online. Not much coverage for the price but at least we are covered.
