ALICO offers life and non-life insurance policies, as well as accident, group life, health and pension services. HistoryALICO was founded in 1921 in Shanghai, China, by a man named C.V. Starr who went on to found American International Group, more commonly known as AIG. The company was originally named, Asia Life Insurance Co. Up until World War II, ALICO opened offices throughout China and Southeast Asia. When the war brought business to a relative standstill, ALICO turned its insurance operations to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas. In 1951, it changed its name to American Life Insurance Company. More recently, ALICO has been working to expand its business in Central Europe and Latin America.
